Overview
An AI-based learning platform built for students who want a study path that adapts to them. Learners work through interactive lessons, ask an AI assistant for explanations in plain language, and see their progress across every course they are enrolled in.
Challenge
Personalisation has to feel helpful rather than opaque: recommendations need a visible reason, the AI assistant must stay grounded in the course material, and progress data has to stay accurate as content changes.
Process

Mapped the learner journey first: onboarding, a placement check, a recommended path, lessons, practice and review.

Designed the content model so lessons, quizzes and resources can be tagged by topic and difficulty and recommended from those tags.

Built the AI assistant on top of the lesson content so answers cite the material the student is currently studying.

Added a progress layer that records completions and quiz results per learner and per course.
Solution
A Next.js application with a Node.js API and PostgreSQL. Lessons are authored as structured content, recommendations come from topic and difficulty tags, and the AI assistant answers with context from the current lesson. A dashboard shows each learner their path, streaks and completed modules.
